About Our Chickens

Our small batch Cornish Cross chickens are raised right here on our farm in Murphy, Oregon. These birds are nourished with corn-free, soy-free, non-GMO feed.

At just three weeks old, our chicks move to pasture where they graze on fresh grass and bugs daily until reaching eight weeks of age. They live in custom chicken tractors that keep them protected from predators, provide cool shade, and are moved to fresh ground daily.

Our chickens are processed and packaged with care right here on the farm to limit stress on the birds.

Common Questions

CSA signups close in April 2026 or when all 10 spots are filled, whichever comes first. We recommend reserving your spot early! If you miss the deadline, you can still purchase chickens online while supplies last. Inventories will be updated after each processing day.Β

We’ll send you a schedule in May with our pickup/delivery schedule for each month. You’ll receive 4 chickens per month from June through November. For delivery, we’ll coordinate a delivery day/time and you will just need to leave a cooler outside of your door or gate. For farm pickup, chickens will be ready for pickup on designated dates/times. We will send a complete schedule in May as we are still working out our schedule.

We understand life happens! Contact us and we can often arrange a substitute date or hold your chickens for the following month. We work with our members to ensure you get all 25 birds.

Absolutely! Many members share a CSA. Payment will need to be made by one person, but you can coordinate between yourselves on pickup/delivery and let us know if the delivery address changes.

We recommend having space for at least 4 chickens at a time (approximately 16-18 lbs total). Each bird is individually wrapped and takes up about the size of a shoebox.

CSA members get first access to additional products! You will receive the first string of emails when we have extra chickens, livers, hearts, or feet available for purchase.

CSA memberships are transferable to another person with notice to us. Due to the nature of farm planning, we cannot offer refunds after April 1st, but we’re always happy to work with members if circumstances change.

We’re happy to work with customers in surrounding Rogue Valley areas! If you live in Williams, Jacksonville, Rogue River, Talent, or other nearby communities, please go ahead and place your order. Your card will receive a hold until confirmed. We’ll review your address within 24 hours to confirm it fits within our delivery route. Your card will not be charged until your address is confirmed. We evaluate addresses based on route efficiency and will contact you promptly to confirm delivery or discuss farm pickup as an alternative.

Although we are not yet certified organic, as the paperwork and fees involved can be prohibitive for a small farm, we adhere to the best organic practices in raising our chickens and cultivating food. We never use chemical herbicides or pesticides on our property and ensure that our animals receive corn-free, soy-free, GMO-free feed. We are more than happy to address any questions regarding our processes!

We are committed to transparency and lead by best practices. Our chickens enjoy locally sourced, non-GMO corn & soy-free feed as their main food source. They are also occasionally treated to black soldier fly larvae and pressed hemp seeds for extra nutrients and protein. Furthermore, they graze on chemical & pesticide-free green grass, clover, dandelions, and insects on a daily basis.

From our local feed supplier, “We source all of our grains locally, we know theΒ farmersΒ that grow them, and we know how they are grown and harvested. Part of not being certified organic means that we can’t 100% guarantee that grains will be glyphosate free, but we take measures to make certain that we are getting as close to organic as possible.

We have a qualitative test strip that we use to determine the presence of glyphosate, and we test per harvest. The qualitative test strips essentially give a yes/no answer to the presence of glyphosate above their detectable threshold, and the strips have always come back with a negative. To ensure that we are conducting the test correctly, we tested a bag of GMO deer corn from Walmart and immediately saw a positive result.”
